Fort Worth Criminal Defense Lawyer

Experienced Criminal Defense Attorney

Being arrested is one of the scariest experiences you can imagine. It’s not necessarily the “oh crap, I’m going to jail”, It’s the realization as your being booked, that this is it. There’s no turning around, this will be on my record forever and I will never be looked at the same again. Well fortunately, that is only the case if you don’t hire a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney. You may have many reasons why you don’t want to hire a lawyer. They’re expensive, the prosecution has a strong case against me, there’s no reason to fight it. Your initial reaction, however, is wrong.

Fighting a criminal charge can be frightening. Even if it’s simply a misdemeanor, landing a criminal charge will stay with you for the rest of your life. More than just a fine and prison time is at stake. Depending on your charge, you could be facing prison time, high fines, your civil rights reduced, your ability to get a job impeded and even college can be a challenge to get into. It’s all in the details and every case is different. That’s why it takes one of Fort Worth Magazine’s 2018 top criminal defense lawyer on your side to get results. You need someone with the knowledge to be able to reduce or even dismiss your case entirely. Don’t suffer for the rest of your life because you didn’t hire the Law Office of Jeff S. Hoover.

What are you charged with?

It’s important to be aware of the penalties imposed upon us if we are arrested in Texas. It’s not just jail time and fines you should be worried about. All charges are different, but simply a class C theft misdemeanor can dampen your ability to get even a retail job (would you hire a thief to run your register?). Understanding the punishments carried behind your actions can be confusing sometimes. Below is a table of the general punishments, this isn’t including all the repercussions that come along with your charge.

Class C Misdemeanor – A fine of up to $500
Class B Misdemeanor – A jail sentence of up to 180 days, a fine of up to $2,000
Class A Misdemeanor – A jail sentence of up to one year, a fine of up to $4,000
State Jail Felony – A jail sentence of between 180 days and two years, a fine of up to $10,000

Second-Degree Felony – A prison sentence of between two and twenty years, a fine of up to $10,000
First-Degree Felony – A prison sentence of between five and ninety-nine years, a fine of up to $10,000
Capital Felony – Either the death sentence or life in prison without the possibility of parole (parole might be possible when the defendant was a minor at the time of the crime)

I got in some bad legal troubles (i.e. my second DWI) and being on the cusp of getting married Jeff got this resolved fastidiously and in a way that helped me move on with my life. He is the definition of consummate professional and his demeanor is very friendly. Hopefully I won’t need another lawyer but if I did I would call Jeff in a heartbeat.

Jeff hoover is an excellent attorney. I had a possession of marijuana charge he handled very well I just had to do 40 hours community service complete a 16 hour drug program and pass two UAs a month apart which I passed so he got me 6 months deferred probation with no drug test required and I think that’s a pretty sweet deal so thanks Jeff I will definitely recommend you to any in need of your legal services

I’ve used Jeff Hoover twice and was very pleased with the outcomes. Resisting arrest=Dismissal and Felony Assault=NO BILL. If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. I’d put him in the category of Elite lawyers in the DFW area while still being affordable to the average guy. Jeff definitely has the experience and knowledge to handle whatever comes his way. He’s a straight up guy and will tell you how it is, which is respectable in my book.
